After the great feedback received for the previous week-end retreats we are running again 2 retreats:
In the weeks before Christmas, anxiety and stress can build up around food and meals: what to cook that is not too complicated or expensive, not too time-consuming; how to cater for the vegetarian or vegan person, or for the person who is allergic to certain foods.
Paola will guide us in the preparation and cooking of nourishing meals that are vegetarian or vegan, incorporating Christmas fare, and will show how to cater for people with food allergies.
Then we will all sit around the table and eat mindfully and in silence.
There will also be sitting meditation sessions, and slow, mindful walking meditation, reflections around the food we eat, and time to go for longer walks as well as rest.
Cost: €180, including a deposit of €80.
The teachings by Paola and Marjó are offered on a donation basis.
The spirit of dana (generosity) is to give freely from one’s heart whatever is appropriate and possible – if this is new to you and you do not know where to start from you may want to check the cost of similar events in Ireland.
The Breathworks Mindfulness for Health course is coming to Kerry!
Starting on Thursday 12th of October in Killarney, this 8 week course will take place in the morning, from 10 to 12.30 at the Dromhall Hotel.
Mindfulness has been proven to be of help in managing chronic pain and stress.
During this course you will learn simple meditation practices and mindfulness skills that will help you improve your quality of life.
You will learn to manage pain, illness and fatigue, to be aware of your breath and body, to use the breath to ease into the present moment.
The course includes gentle movement – adapted to you own specific situation – and relaxation.
Meditation practices will help you develop awareness (mindfulness) and cultivation of kindness and compassion toward yourself and empathy towards others.

The course costs € 260 – there is a limited number of concessionary places; if finance are a problem do not hesitate to contact me and we’ll find a solution.
Taught by Paola Vais and supported by Jacinta O’Shea, who is training to become a Breathworks Mindfulness Teacher.
The focus of this silent retreat is on preparing, cooking and eating joyfully and mindfully.
Paola will guide all participants in preparing and cooking summery dishes, vegan and vegetarian. She has trained at the Ballymaloe Cookery School, and has been cooking in restaurants, private catering, on the Asgard, and for Marjó’s retreats for many years. Paola is also a certified Mindfulness trainer and Breathworks trainer, facilitating courses and retreats.
Marjó will guide the mindfulness meditation in sitting and walking sessions, as well as mindful eating. Marjó has been guiding mindfulness and compassion retreats for over 25 years.
There will also be time for plenty of rest, and going for walks on the nearby beach, making this a very special retreat.
Bobbio Centre is a unique place: very quiet, overlooking the sea, and with easy access to the beach.
It is also possible to come for the weekend only, starting Friday evening, but those coming for the whole time will have preference.
Cost: for food and accommodation in a twin en-suite room €240 (or €180 for two nights). There are a few single rooms for €310 (or €230 for two nights). Paola and Marjó’s guidance is offered on a donation basis.
For the second year Claire Osborne and I will be running a Yoga and Mindfulness Weekend retreat on beautiful Heir Island, off the West Cork coast.
Claire Osborne will share gentle asana, and mindful movement, breathing practices, yoga nidra, mudras and chanting to link us with the wild nature of the island through the senses.
Paola Vais will be sharing seated and walking meditations, focusing on present moment awareness and loving kindness.
Cost €320 (sharing) / €340 (single room) includes teaching, accommodation, all vegetarian meals and ferry to and from the Island.

FRIDAY: Start 6.30 pm with dinner followed by a welcoming ritual and relaxing yoga and meditation (registration from 6 pm)
SATURDAY: we’ll start with a morning practice of yoga and meditation, followed by breakfast and some free time before the morning sessions. Lunch will be at 1, with some time after to explore the island, go for a swim or simply rest before the restorative afternoon practices. We’ll have dinner at 6, and then meet again for the evening meditation and yoga Nidra.
SUNDAY: THE morning will unfold like Saturday, and after lunch the retreat will end with a closing circle, in time to catch the 3:55 Ferry.

ABOUT YOUR TECAHERS:
Claire Osborne has been practicing yoga for 23 years, and also a form of mindful movement, called Amerta movement, for more than 18 years. As well as teaching classes and workshops full time since 2001, she is also a massage therapist and yoga therapist. She passionately believes that yoga can help us life live with more ease, vitality and awareness.
Paola Vais has been practicing mindfulness meditation and attending retreats for a number of years. Her personal experience of the many benefits of mindfulness and the belief that mindfulness is an accessible way to live life more fully has led her to train as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher and has been teaching since 2011.

The longest night of the year has gone, and slowly the days will become a little longer…
I’ll be on retreat in January and February and when I will be back in Ireland spring will have brought daffodils, greener grass, the first buds on tree branches.
I will run the Mindfulness for Health course in Cork starting mid-March, and Mindfulness for stress in Skibbereen.
